Osheen is PI Industries' brand of dinotefuran 20% SG, used mainly against brown planthopper in paddy and sucking pests in cotton. Katyayani Apocalypse contains the same active ingredient at the same strength, applied at 61 to 81 g per acre in paddy.

Dinotefuran has low acute toxicity to mammals, with a rat oral LD₅₀ above 2,000 mg/kg. It is safe for the applicator when label directions and protective equipment are followed. Observe the pre-harvest interval — 21 days in paddy, 15 days in cotton.

Dissolve 61 to 81 g per acre for paddy, or 51 to 61 g for cotton, in about 200 litres of water — roughly 0.4 g per litre. Spray in the late evening after bee activity stops, covering the crop base where planthoppers shelter.

Dinotefuran 20% SG controls brown planthopper in paddy and aphids, jassids and whitefly in cotton. It is systemic with contact and stomach action, giving quick knockdown of sucking pests, including planthopper populations resistant to imidacloprid.

Dinotefuran gives about two to three weeks of protection in the crop after a foliar spray. In soil it is more persistent, with a half-life of roughly 82 days, and it is highly water-soluble, so avoid draining treated field water into ponds or canals.

For people, acute toxicity is low and label use with protective equipment is safe. For bees it is a different story — dinotefuran is rated highly toxic to honeybees, so never spray flowering crops or apply where pollinators are foraging.
