Katyayani Boron 20% EDTA Micronutrient Fertilizer for Flowering & Fruit Setting

Boron 20% is a micronutrient fertilizer used to improve flowering, pollen germination, fruit and seed set. It corrects boron deficiency, which shows up as flower drop, hollow stem in cauliflower, fruit cracking in tomato, and poor pod filling in groundnut. It is applied as a foliar spray or through the soil.

The smallest pack sold is 500 g at ₹320, which works out to about ₹64 for 100 g. Boron is usually bought in 500 g or 1 kg packs, because a single acre needs 200 g for a foliar spray.

Yes. Boron 20% EDTA is water soluble and mixes with water-soluble NPK for foliar spraying. Dissolve the boron separately in a little water first, then add it to the tank. If you have not used the combination before, do a small jar test.

Disodium octaborate and boron EDTA both carry about 20% boron, which is the highest commonly available. Boric acid has around 17% and borax about 10.5%. For foliar sprays, the 20% water-soluble forms are used because they dissolve fully and do not settle in the tank.

Avoid strongly alkaline sprays such as Bordeaux mixture and lime sulphur, because high pH breaks the chelate and the boron can precipitate. Be careful with calcium-heavy products in the same tank. Never mix boron in dry form directly into the tank — dissolve it first.

All plants need boron, but the amount differs sharply. Broadleaf crops like cauliflower, tomato, groundnut, mustard and grapes need much more than cereals such as wheat, rice and maize. The gap between enough boron and too much is narrow, so stay at the recommended dose rather than adding extra.

It depends on how you apply it. For foliar sprays, a fully water-soluble 20% form such as boron EDTA or disodium octaborate works best because it leaves nothing in the tank. For soil application, borax or a granular boron is the usual choice. Check the boron percentage on the pack before comparing prices.

Just before flowering and again at fruit set, since that is when boron does most of its work. For a foliar spray, use 2 to 3 applications at 15 to 20 day intervals. Soil application is done at the basal dose or in the early vegetative stage.
