Product Description

Katyayani Imida is Imidacloprid 30.5% SC, a systemic insecticide for sucking pests such as aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies and brown planthopper. The dose is 24 to 30 ml per acre on cotton and rice and 50 to 60 ml per acre on chilli, applied as a foliar spray in 150 to 200 litres of water. The plant absorbs it, so pests die when they feed, including those under the leaf.

Which Pests Does Imida Control?

Controls Does not control
Aphids, jassids (leafhoppers), thrips, whiteflies, brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper, mealybugs, termites Caterpillars, bollworms, mites. For these you need a different molecule, so identify the pest before spraying.

Recommended crops: cotton, rice, chilli, sugarcane, mango, groundnut, grapes, tomato and vegetables.

How Does Imidacloprid 30.5% SC Work?

Imida is a systemic insecticide. The plant takes it up and carries it to new growth and to the undersides of leaves that a spray cannot reach. When a sucking pest feeds, the active ingredient disrupts nerve signal transmission, which causes paralysis and death. It gives long-lasting protection against sucking pests.

Pest-Crop-Dose Table

Method: Foliar spray.

Crop Target pest Dose per acre Per 15 L pump
Cotton Aphid, jassids, thrips 24 to 30 ml 2 to 2.5 ml
Rice Brown plant hopper, white-backed plant hopper 24 to 30 ml 2 to 2.5 ml
Chilli Aphid, thrips 50 to 60 ml 4 to 4.5 ml

Mix the dose in 150 to 200 litres of water per acre. At 30 ml per acre in 200 litres, the mix works out to about 0.15 ml per litre. One 100 ml bottle treats roughly 3 to 4 acres of cotton, and one litre treats about 33 acres at 30 ml per acre.

How and When to Spray

  • Apply at the first sign of sucking pests, not after the population has built up. Imidacloprid is systemic and works best early.
  • Cotton and chilli: usually 25 to 30 days after sowing.
  • Rice: at the first appearance of planthoppers at the base of the plant.
  • Mixing: fill the pump halfway, add the measured dose, stir, then top up with water. Never pour it into an empty tank.
  • Spray before 10 in the morning or after 4 in the evening. Midday heat evaporates the spray before it is absorbed, and strong sun can scorch treated leaves.
  • Avoid spraying if rain is expected within 4 to 6 hours, and do not spray in strong wind.
  • Spray to full leaf cover, including the underside where sucking pests feed.

Safety for Bees and Beneficial Insects

No bee-safety or beneficial-insect claim is made for this product. As a general label precaution, avoid spraying during flowering or when bees are actively foraging, and follow the pack label.

Precautions and Disclaimer

  • Use as per the label dose. Overdosing wastes product and can stress the crop without improving control.
  • Wear gloves and a mask while spraying.
  • Keep livestock out of the treated field.
  • Observe the pre-harvest interval printed on the label.
  • Keep away from children, food and feed.
