Katyayani K-Acepro Acetamiprid 20% SP Insecticide

Acetamiprid 20% is a neonicotinoid insecticide containing 20% acetamiprid as the active ingredient, sold mainly as a soluble powder (SP). It is systemic and translaminar, and controls sucking pests such as aphids, jassids and whitefly in cotton, vegetables and fruit crops.

Acetamiprid is used to control sap-sucking insect pests. It works against aphids, jassids (leafhoppers), whitefly and tea mosquito bug in cotton, chilli, okra, brinjal, tomato, potato, mustard, citrus and tea, applied as a foliar spray at 40 to 60 g per acre.

Acetamiprid is sold under many brand names — Mospilan, Assail, Chipco, Polar by Gharda Chemicals, Ekka, and K-ACEPRO by Katyayani Organics. Chemically it is a chloropyridinyl neonicotinoid, CAS number 135410-20-7. "Acetamiprid" itself is the ISO common name.

Acetamiprid 20% SP is commonly used against aphids, jassids and whitefly in cotton, and against sucking pests in okra, brinjal, tomato, potato, chilli, mustard, groundnut, pulses and citrus. In tea it is used for tea mosquito bug (Helopeltis).

Chlorpyriphos 20% EC is a different molecule — an organophosphate, not a neonicotinoid. It is used against bollworm and whitefly in cotton, pod borer in beans, aphids in groundnut, and as a soil treatment for termites. Acetamiprid does not replace it.

Acetamiprid 20% SP is sold in India as K-ACEPRO by Katyayani Organics, Polar by Gharda Chemicals, Ekka, and others. Internationally the original brand is Mospilan from Nippon Soda, with Assail and Chipco also marketed under the same active ingredient.

The chemical name of acetamiprid is N-[(6-chloro-3-pyridyl)methyl]-N'-cyano-N-methyl-acetamidine. Its CAS number is 135410-20-7 and its molecular formula is C₁₀H₁₁ClN₄. It belongs to the chloropyridinyl neonicotinoid class of insecticides.
