Katyayani Chakraveer Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC Insecticide for Stem Borer, Fruit Borer & Pod Borer

Chlorantraniliprole controls caterpillars and borers in field and vegetable crops. It is used against stem borer and leaf folder in paddy, bollworm in cotton, fruit borer in tomato and chilli, pod borer in gram, shoot borer in sugarcane, and diamondback moth in cabbage.

18.5% SC is the liquid suspension concentrate form, sprayed on the crop. Doses run from 20 ml per acre for diamondback moth in cabbage to 60 ml for paddy, cotton, tomato and chilli, 80 ml for maize and brinjal, and 150 to 250 ml for sugarcane borers.

Mix the crop dose in 200 litres of water per acre, which works out to about 0.3 ml per litre. Sugarcane needs 400 litres. Spray in early morning or evening, covering the whorl, boll or fruit where larvae feed. It acts by ingestion, so the larva has to eat treated tissue.

It is not sold in litre packs. The largest size here is 300 ml at ₹1,110, which works out to about ₹3,700 per litre. The 150 ml pack at ₹650 comes to roughly ₹4,333 per litre, so the bigger pack is cheaper per millilitre.

Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC is a liquid and is sold in millilitres, not kilograms. A price per kilogram usually refers to the technical grade material sold to formulators, not the product a farmer buys. For field use, compare price per millilitre.

FMC developed the molecule and held the original patent, which has since expired in India. Several Indian companies now formulate it. Katyayani Organics formulates and packs Chakraveer at its own plant in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, with every batch tested in an in-house NABL accredited laboratory.

Chakraveer is the trade name Katyayani uses for chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC. Other companies sell the same active ingredient under their own names. The technical name and the percentage on the pack are what tell you what you are actually buying.

Partly. It moves translaminar, crossing into the leaf to reach larvae feeding underneath, and moves upward in the xylem when taken up by roots. But it works mainly by ingestion rather than circulating through the whole plant the way a true systemic does.

Any product whose label reads chlorantraniliprole, usually as 18.5% SC. It also appears in combination products mixed with other insecticides. Chakraveer is the straight 18.5% SC form.
